Bon matin! (Good morning!) We will be meeting each week on Tuesdays and Thursdays (with a short check for understanding assignment on Fridays). At least once a week we will be having a virtual class using our class Google meet link. I will record these meetings in the event you cannot attend, so you can watch it later. All assignments will be done in Google Classroom.

*Anything posted in the STREAM is announcements/explanation.
*The two weekly assignments and check in will be under Classwork and one checking for understanding on Fridays.
 (ones you must do in order to receive credit for the semester) 
*You must hit "Turn In" once you have completed them.

Aujourd'hui (Today): This is what you need to do for today please:
1. In your chapitre 4 packet (attached in google classroom), do all of page 34 (activities 10, 11 & 12). Remember when using possessive adjectives that you are basing your choice on the noun after the blank and if it's singular or plural as well as masculine or feminine.

2. Go to Classwork and turn in the above assignment by clicking "Turn In"

3. Copy these notes (attached in google classroom) into your cahier - Beau, Nouveau and Vieux Adjectives

Today I have a couple listening activities for you that focus on our verb "faire".

As you watch the video, put the places in order that TV5 visite. When you think you have them correct, click "ok", then "suivant"(next) to go to the next activity.

On the second page, click the speaker icon above each picture to hear the sentence then drag the picture to which sentence you heard, click "ok", then "suivant" to go to the next activity.

On the third page, select the correct conjugation of faire by hovering over the blank space and clicking the correct conjugation for each one, click "ok", then "suivant" to go to the last activity.

On the last page, click the speaker icon to hear the sentence, then type the conjugation of faire that you hear in the sentence, click "ok" to see how you did.

I passed out progress reports to students to take home since conferences were cancelled yesterday. Then we went over the homework - colors wkst #2 - this models tomorrow's assessment. Then I went over the house project with them and the rubric. Students will have significant class time with access to technology each day to work on their project.

We went over the homework (colors worksheet). Then we did a partner activity with our colors and students received another practice worksheet for their colors assessment which is on Friday of this week.

We worked with colors today. We used color cards to do two different activities. Then students completed pg 31 #5 in their chapitre 4 packet - writing a sentence saying what color that room of the house is in their own home or making it up. Then they completed a colors worksheet which models the assessment this Friday. This is homework if they didn't finish it.

Students completed lecon 13 pg 71 #3 and pg 72 #1 (un lit is a bed). We took notes on colors today. Then students could vote for their favorite March Madness songs at mmepayer.weebly.com. Then they could use quizlet to practice their colors and/or house vocab.

I collected the work from yesterday when there was a sub. We worked with our house vocab again today. Students completed lecon 13 pg 71 #3 and pg 72 #1 (un lit is a bed). Then they completed pg 32 in their chapitre 4 packet. Then we took notes on colors, which we will finish tomorrow.

1. Complete page 31 (all) in their Chapitre 4 packet (this is in your binder with your family materials)

2. Grab a textbook off the cart and write out activity #2 on page 138 (number 6-10 and write the name of that room in French using your new vocab) and activity #3 on page 138 (write the full sentence here please) then make those sentences from activity 3 negative like you did on your assessment yesterday.

3. Go to quizlet.com and practice the set named "Ch 4 - La maison"

Put the computers back and make sure they are plugged in please and make sure the textbooks are stacked neatly on the cart. Merci!

We listened to our two March madness songs for the day and students had a chance to vote using chromebooks. (mmepayer.weebly.com click the link at the bottom) We went over two avoir worksheets. Then students used conjuguemos.com to take a practice quiz that models tomorrow's assessment and then they practiced conjugating avoir on the same site. We also updated their self-assessment sheets

We worked with our new verb avoir today. Students complete "Devoir #29 - avoir" worksheet and worksheet pg 50 activity 19B where they wrote each sentence in the affirmative and negative, which models Tuesday's assessment. I also played the songs for our March Madness of French music and gave them some background information on each artist we listened to today. Students can vote by going to my website mmepayer.weebly.com and clicking on the music website at the bottom of the page. You need to be logged in to your aaps email to view the videos and to vote.
We also updated their self-assessment sheets.

As we celebrated Mardi Gras with croissants (merci Benny's Bakery!!), I showed three short videos about Mardi Gras history and traditions. After I passed out all the croissants. I asked questions from the video and students could choose a Mardi Gras prize if they wanted.

We worked with our age and name vocab today. Students worked with a partner to do two different question and answer activities that I displayed on the board. Then we took notes on our new verb "avoir". Then students completed an informal writing assessment for me giving peoples name, age and how they would be related to them based on the paper I gave them.

We finished our notes on vocab B with how to ask and give someone's name. We went over the homework. We practiced a lot today, students completed: Devoir #27 back page; lecon 1 worksheet pg 23 #1 and pg 24 #2; La Famille (Pratique) worksheet #22. Then homework is the "As-tu des frères ou des soeurs" worksheet.

Students then completed an activity I had on the board using our new "my" words in French. Then students completed pg 29 in their chapitre 4 packet. Then they completed "Devoir #27", this is homework if they didn't finish it.

We practiced one more day for their assessment tomorrow. Students completed these in their packet: pg 80 Act #3, pg 82 (all of it) - section two will be like the extra credit tomorrow where students have to write the question that would've been asked to get that answer. They may use the long way or short way of asking questions for this. We went over the answers. Then we did a practice dictée and went over the answers. Then I gave them a short story to read in French. They had to highlight the words they didn't know and tomorrow after the assessment we will be going over it.

We went over the homework then continued to practice faire and inversion questions. Students completed lecon 8 revision parts c and d. Then they create 4 questions with est-ce que of their own and exchanged questions with a partner and rewrote their partners questions in inversion.

We took notes on how to make inversion questions today. We also continued to work with our verb faire. Students completed "Interr Exp Practice" worksheet part c - making questions with inversion. Then they completed pg 78 part D and pg 80 & 81 act #3s in their packet.

We worked one last day on our interrogative expressions and forming questions with est-ce que. We did another listening practice. Then students completed sections A and B of the Lecon 8 Revision worksheet. Then they completed pg 80 A Activite 1 and pg 81 B activite 1 and 2. Then they had a few minutes to review with someone else however they wished.

We continued to work with our interrogative expressions and questions with est-ce que. We went over the homework and then we did a round of "dix" with our interrogative expressions but in English, which was much harder than simply saying the French word. We then practiced two listening activities like will be part of their assessment this Friday. Students then individually completed the handwritten worksheet filling in the interrogative expression in the blank.

Students then practiced with a partner and an activity I displayed on the board. Then they completed pg 77 #1 and pg 80 activite #2 in their packet and we went over the answers. We then played a version of "dix" with our interrogative expressions. Their homework was all of section A and 6-10 on section B of the "Interr Exp Practice" worksheet.

Students took their price/cost assessment today. Then we worked with our expressions that are followed by infinitives. Students worked with a partner to complete three different activities that I displayed on the board. Then they individually completed lecon 5 worksheet pg 62 saying if they liked or disliked the activity pictured. Then they used the classroom textbook to read and answer questions based on the dialogue in the book on page 96.

We worked with price/cost today. Students practiced giving prices of classroom objects using a picture I displayed on the board. Then they practiced with some of our -er verbs using sentences I displayed on the board. Then we took notes on the verbs acheter, lever, payer on their -ER verb charts worksheet they have and then they completed section A on the back conjugating the verbs. Lastly, they completed their Chapitre 3 Première Etape worksheet with classroom objects and prices on it. This models their assessment this week.

We did a practice listening and reading exam, which models their exam on Wednesday of this week. Students had some time to work on their exam packets or with their partner for the speaking exam.

Students took their -er verb assessment today. Then we went over our notes they copied down yesterday. Then we went over the Final Exam Outline. I also gave them both of their final exam reviews - vocab and grammar. These exam review packets are due next Friday, January 17th.

1. Go to conjuguemos.com (password is still FrenchRocks!) and take the quiz I assigned you titled “Practice Assessment: Regular -ER Verbs”. You can take it multiple times if you'd like but you must take it at least once.

2. Copy these notes onto the paper the sub gives you: Le pronom On & Verb followed by infinitive and Price/Cost. Put these under notes in your binder.

3. After you've taken the notes and the quiz you can stay on conjuguemos and practice any of the -ER verb activities or you can go to quizlet.com and do the Ch 3 -ER verb set.

Assessment tomorrow: Regular - er verbs (10 conjugating verbs, 10 fill in the subject pronouns, 10 definitions of the infinitive verbs and questions about how to find the stem and what the exceptions are)

We went over the homework and I explained the format of the assessment on Friday over regular -ER verbs. Then we used computers to practice conjugating regular -er verbs on conjuguemos.com (password is still FrenchRocks!).
Here are the steps to get to where you can practice conjugating -er verbs on conjuguemos.com

Go to the "Library" button in the top left corner and click it
-click "Verbs" under "French"
-click #2 Le Present (-er verbs)
-click "Graded Practice"
-click the gear looking thing next to Settings in the upper right hand corner
-click "All Verbs"
-uncheck "all verbs"
-select the -er verbs you know (there should be 7-9 of them)
-click "All Pronouns"
-uncheck the pronoun "on"
-click "Save Settings"
-finally click "Start The Graded Practice"

Students continued to practice here or they could get a battleship board from me and play verb battleship with a partner.

We went over the homework and continued to practice conjugating regular -er verbs. Students did two verbal activities with a partner using activities that I displayed on the whiteboard. Then we watched the video that goes with this lesson and read the cultural information about teenage gatherings. Then students completed worksheet pg 71 #1 and #2 (I passed this out to them). This is homework if they don't finish it.

We went through our chapter 3 notes which is mostly regular -er verbs. Then we took notes on the back of that page on how to conjugate regular -ER verbs. Then students completed the packet titled "Les Verbes en -ER" practicing conjugating our new verbs.
